Aim Higher

I’ve seen a lot memes out there for raising daughters. Such as, “Why raise a princess? When you can raise a warrior.”

I get it. We don’t want our daughters to be seen as weak. In a man’s world, we women, have had to fight for recognition. Women’s rights have paved the way for many great things. I do however feel that pushing our next generation of women too far is not good thing either.

When I look at my girls I want the best for them. I want them to reach all their goals and infinitely more but I don’t want them to bash in all the doors to do it. In all honesty, when I think of best combination for a woman I think of a southern woman.

A southern woman knows how to be gracious, kind, loving and giving but when she faces a challenge, she is made of steel. She not only finds a strength in herself to move forward she gets down on her knees and prays to God to help her.

That’s what I want my girls to be. A woman who is gracious, kind, loving, giving but made of steel and not afraid to admit when she needs her God (which is all the time). I’m trying everyday, in all my ways, to instill this in my girls.

That they can be gracious, kind women in this world but be warriors when called upon.

Have a blessed Sunday.
