Yesterday we lost a wonderful man and actor, Bob Newhart. I was born in 1979, which means I missed The Bob Newhart Show, but I learned all about my brother Darryl and my other brother Darryl.
Bob was the voice of my favorite Rescuers character, Bernard. He played a papa elf, a mysterious Judson, Dr. Magnus and what I think was his best performance ever, Professor Proton.
The Big Bang Theory couldn’t have picked a better actor than Bob for that role. He embodied an old fashioned scientist trying to find his way in a new world and with each episode, even after killing him off, his character grew on you more.
Sheldon would never have made the right choices without Professor Proton in his dreams. We can only hope that Bob can appear in ours and set us on the right path!
May Bob Newhart Rest In Peace and forever live on as the most loved professor on TV.
